Cal transfer tight end Jack Endries signed with Texas, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. He led the Golden Bears in receiving yards last season.

Endries had a team-high 629 yards in 2024 to go with two touchdowns as a sophomore. That came after a solid freshman season in 2023 when he hauled in 35 catches for 407 yards and two touchdowns.

After entering the transfer portal, Endries became the No. 110 overall player and No. 4-ranked tight end to do so this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Jack Endries played high school football at Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista before arriving at Cal in 2023. Now, he’ll head to Texas, where he’ll play a key role in Steve Sarkisian’s offense as Arch Manning takes over as the starting quarterback.

Texas has been quiet in the transfer portal this cycle, but still has the No. 20-ranked class of portal additions coming in, according to the On3 Team Transfer Portal Index. Endries is now the highest-rater player of the group as the Longhorns bolstered a tight end room which is losing Gunnar Helm to the 2025 NFL Draft. He finished second on the roster last season with 786 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

However, Texas did major work on the high school recruiting trail, securing the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the nation from the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. That group includes safety Jonah Williams, who arrives as a Five Star Plus+ prospect, meaning he is one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star. Williams is the No. 5 overall player from the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, and is one of five five-star signees for Texas.

Of course, the biggest move will be at quarterback as Manning takes over for Quinn Ewers as the starter. He served as Texas’ backup for two years and learned under Sarkisian’s watchful eye, and he’ll face a big test in the season opener when the Longhorns take on reigning national champion Ohio State.
