Jaydon Blue flashes Bijan-like moves with 31-yard TD run in Texas spring game
Texas lost two superstar running backs after last season in Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson. Judging by the Longhorns’ 2023 spring game, though, it appears the talent at the position group hasn’t dropped off a bit.
During Saturday’s spring scrimmage, sophomore running back Jaydon Blue took this firecracker of a carry to the house. It may be as impressive a run as either of those two former Longhorns ever had in DKR.
Take a look:
That’s some gas from the sophomore RB, and also some filthy moves to shake defenders once he got down close to the end zone. A heck of a run that’s a flash of what’s to come for the budding star this fall. Even Bijan has to be impressed by that display of ball-carrier’s brilliance.
More highlights
The Texas offense is putting on a show during their annual April scrimmage to cap off the 2023 spring practice sessions. With the Longhorns returning starting quarterback Quinn Ewers while also adding five-star freshman Arch Manning, the highlights have been plentiful in Austin this afternoon.
The latest being a tremendous pitch and catch between Ewers and Georgia transfer AD Mitchell, who snagged a rocket of a pass from Ewers in the end zone for six.

You can almost hear that ball hiss with how fast Ewers slung it. And all the more reason to respect the heck of an effort Mitchell made to make the grab. Texas football having some fun in the sun on a Saturday afternoon in front of fans at DKR.
Mitchell is a former Georgia player who spent the last two seasons in Athens winning national championships. Not a bad way to spend your first two years of college, huh? During those years, Mitchell recorded 560 total yards and seven touchdowns, and was even one of the team’s top receiving options as a freshman in 2021, where he went for 426 yards and four scores.
However, as a sophomore, Mitchell struggled with injuries as the Bulldog receiver room filled out as a whole and made his path back to the lineup even more difficult than it already was for an injured player trying to come back at the very end of the season. Alas, after a tough end to the 2022 season personally, Mitchell decided to look elsewhere and entered the Transfer Portal, eventually winding up at Texas.
