Jerry Jones paints uncertain picture for Bevo’s status at Cotton Bowl
Earlier this morning, Jerry Jones wasn’t sure if Bevo would be in Arlington next week for the Cotton Bowl.
While on 105.3 The FAN on Friday, Jones said that, although excited to have an in-state school playing and their fanbase coming to Arlington, he did not know if Texas’ live mascot could be in attendance for the Longhorns’ semifinal matchup against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff.
“I can’t answer that. I really don’t know,” Jones said. “We’re glad to have those Texas Longhorns in our stadium.”
However, around the same time as the interview, Texas announced that Bevo would be en route from Austin for the semi on Friday.
This comes after Bevo was unable to attend two of the team’s three postseason games so far. The one he did was obvious as Texas hosted Clemson on The 40 Acres in the opening round of the playoff. The SEC Championship versus Georgia and the Peach Bowl against Arizona State, though, were both in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta with the venue not allowing him at either event due to size and spacing logistics for the 1,700-plus pound bovine.

Notably, if Texas were to beat the Buckeyes, Bevo would likely not travel again as the national championship will also be in Atlanta.
For now, though, Bevo will be at AT&T Stadium in hopes of seeing Texas advance to the national championship in the CFP.
