Jordan Whittington has parting message for Hudson Card as the Texas QB heads to the transfer portal
Hudson Card’s college journey is taking another turn as the Texas quarterback prepares to enter the transfer portal, as On3’s Inside Texas confirmed. After the news came out, one of his teammates offered a parting message for him.
Jordan Whittington, the Longhorns’ second-leading receiver, retweeted ESPN reporter Pete Thamel’s tweet about Card’s intentions to transfer and voiced his support for his quarterback.
“He’s gonna do amazing!” Whittington tweeted. “Love this guy.”
Card just wrapped up his third season in Austin and stepped into the starting role early in the year after Quinn Ewers suffered an injury. Over 12 games, he completed 75 of 108 passes for 928 yards and six touchdowns for the Longhorns. Now, it appears he’s gearing up to take his talents elsewhere as Arch Manning comes in behind Ewers next year.
Per NCAA rules, Card can’t officially enter the portal until Dec. 5. In August, the NCAA voted to adopt transfer portal windows, meaning players can’t enter until those dates. For football, that date is Dec. 5 because that’s the day after the final College Football Playoff reveal, and players have 45 days to enter the portal after that. If they don’t by then, they’ll have to wait until May 1.

Texas QB Hudson Card plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal
Texas quarterback Hudson Card has plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.
Card has been a backup quarterback the past two years for the Longhorns, starting in spot duty due to injuries.
He played high school football at Austin (Texas) Lake Travis, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 67 overall recruit and No. 5 quarterback in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
