KenPom predicts the outcome of the final five regular season games for Texas
There are just five games remaining on the regular season schedule for the Texas Longhorns. Texas is currently 19-7 overall, including an 8-5 record against Big 12 opponents, sitting in fourth place in Big 12 standings. The Longhorns have some pivotal matchups remaining, setting up an important final couple of weeks. KenPom just predicted the outcome of those important matchups for Texas.
KenPom’s predictions for final five Texas games
Saturday, Feb. 19 vs. Texas Tech: Texas 62 – Texas Tech 61 (57% win probability)
Wednesday, Feb. 23 vs. TCU: Texas 66 – TCU 57 (80% win probability)
Saturday, Feb. 26 at West Virginia: Texas 65 – West Virginia 62 (61% win probability)
Monday, Feb. 28 vs. Baylor: Texas 67 – Baylor 66 (50% win probability)
Saturday, March 5 at Kansas: Kansas 72 – Texas 66 (30% win probability)
Texas enters the final stretch having won three out of four
The Longhorns got out to a strong start this season, beginning the year 12-2. After that hot start, Texas has fallen off a little bit. They lost three out of four after the 12-2 start, losing to Oklahoma State, Iowa State, and Kansas State. Texas responded with a three-game winning streak, beating Oklahoma State, TCU, and Tennessee. The Longhorns then lost to Texas Tech before responding with two big ranked wins over Iowa State and Kansas.

Last Saturday, Baylor handled Texas with ease, winning 80-63. But Texas responded on Tuesday with an overtime victory over Oklahoma. The Longhorns have now won three of their last four games and six of their last eight. With a tight race at the top of the Big 12, the final stretch of the season is extremely important for the Longhorns.
If KenPom’s predictions hold true, Texas will finish the regular season 23-8 overall with a 12-6 record against Big 12 opponents. As of now, Texas would open the Big 12 Tournament against Kansas State. In On3’s latest NCAA Tournament projection, Texas comes in as a four seed alongside Illinois, Tennessee, and UCLA. The Longhorns have a chance to improve that seeding over the final weeks of the season, although a stumble could result in a fall for Texas as well.
