KenPom predicts the outcome of the next five Texas games
Coming off a major win against No. 7-ranked Kansas on Monday, KenPom.com has updated its predictions for Texas basketball for the rest of the season.
Throughout the next five games in particular, Texas has a tough stretch with all opponents ranked in the KenPom top-60. They start the slate off with a two-game road trip to Baylor (6) followed by another to Oklahoma (30). They’re set to host Texas Tech (13) and TCU (56) for a two-game home stand the following week, and will round out the five-game stretch with a battle against West Virginia (54) in Morgantown.
Let’s go down the list in order.
Baylor: KenPom gives Texas a 29 percent chance to beat the reigning national champions on their home court on Saturday. The Longhorns are predicted to lose 68-62. This prediction is especially interesting due to the fact Texas hosts Baylor at the end of February and is predicted to win 65-64 with a 52 percent chance of winning on its home court.
Oklahoma: Texas’s matchup against Oklahoma is an odd one. Texas is ranked 14th while OU sits at No. 30 overall, yet the Longhorns are set to only take home a one-point victory (62-61) with a 54 percent probability to win.
Texas Tech: Given that the Erwin Center allows Texas to enjoy a 3.7-point advantage on any given night — this matchup is as even as it gets. As of now, Texas is supposed to take home the win 61-58 with a 60 percent chance of winning. It’s safe to say if this game was played in Corpus Cristi, Texas Tech would be the favorite.

TCU: According to KenPom, this is the game that will most likely see Texas come away with a win. The Longhorns are an 80 percent favorite and are nine-point favorites as of this writing, 65-56.
West Virginia: Just like the Texas Tech game, the Longhorns will head to Morgantown with a 60 percent chance to take home the victory. Texas is a two-point favorite and is expected to come out with a 63-61 victory.
Life doesn’t get any easier after this stretch for the Longhorns, as for the second time this season, Texas has to end their regular season with back-to-back battles with Baylor (6) and Kansas (7). Before then, however, Texas has to worry about a road trip to Baylor for their first meeting of the season this Saturday at noon ET live on ESPN2.
