Texas EDGE Kristopher Ross no longer with program
Texas EDGE Kristopher Ross is no longer with the program, a spokesperson told On3’s Inside Texas. Ross is in the midst of his redshirt freshman season, being just his second year on the 40 Acres. He will leave with just four games of college football experience under his belt.
Ross played in one game as a true freshman before appearing in Texas’ first three contests of the 2023 season. There was an injury suffered against Wyoming, keeping him off the field since then.
While he might have left the program, Ross is not currently in the NCAA transfer portal per Inside Texas. He is likely to wait until the window is open after the season, allowing him to be immediately eligible at his next stop.
Ross played high school football at Houston (TX) North Shore, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 178 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
With North Shore being one of the best high school programs in the country, Ross was a huge recruiting win for Sarkisian at the time. However, after less than two seasons, the EDGE’s time with Texas has ended.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian explain mentality of Quinn Ewers following injury
During last year’s game against Alabama, a Dallas Turner hit caused Quinn Ewers to miss three games before returning for the Oklahoma game following a bye week. He was still there with the team, supporting Hudson Card as he took over as the starting quarterback.

Now, the same can be done this season with Maalik Murphy or Arch Manning. Ewers will surely still be involved on a daily basis, making sure the Texas offense is prepared to the best of its ability heading into every game he misses.
“He does have a little bit of the blueprint,” Steve Sarkisian said. “He knows what it takes to keep himself mentally sharp, to be dialed into the gameplan, to support the other guys, and how they can lean into him. And being a great teammate for all of the guys.”
Sarkisian mentioned how Ewers is in the best shape of his life, which is a plus when talking about recovery timeline. Once the shoulder is healed, he should be ready to get back on the field right away.
Texas will be hoping it’s sooner rather than later and Quinn Ewers can close out his Texas career in a fitting way.
