LOOK: 4-star WR Jalen Hale on Texas official visit
Longview (Texas) four-star wide receiver Jalen Hale is one of the top uncommitted wide receivers in the 2023 cycle. Last weekend, he took an official visit to Texas for the Longhorns’ game against No. 1 Alabama.
Despite the Longhorns’ 20-19 loss to the Crimson Tide, Hale had a good time in Austin. According to On3’s Justin Wells, “Hale is thoroughly enjoying his official trip to Texas and was definitely impressed by the game and atmosphere. He’s (a) fan of Quinn Ewers, Xavier Worthy and Steve Sarkisian’s strong offensive game-plan. But more important, his family is feeling those vibes as well.”
Following his official, Hale posted photos of his time at Texas to social media. He shared them on Instagram with a message: “Hometown hero.”
Hale is the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 10 wide receiver in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 10 player in Texas.

The four-star is announcing his commitment on Sept. 21 and will be choosing between Alabama, Texas and Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide received an official visit from Hale on Sept. 2 and are the favorites for his commitment at 50.7%, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. However, the Longhorns are close behind at 43%.

Hale told On3’s Joseph Hastings about the significance of seeing Alabama play Texas in terms of his recruitment. He previously visited Austin three times unofficially.
“Seeing both of them play in person is something big,” Hale said. “I just want to see a good game. I want to enjoy the game.”

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Jalen Hale:
“Productive receiver for one of the top high school programs in Texas. Excels at the catch point. Was the first freshman to start on varsity back in 2019 for East Texas powerhouse Longview high school since the early 2000’s. Totaled 50 catches for 1,154 yards and 14 touchdowns in his junior season. Does much of his damage out of the slot at Longview.
“Checks in at 6-foot-0.5, 185 pounds with a 32.5 inch arm. Has natural explosion and ability to go up and high point the football. A starter for the basketball team. Needs some refinement in his route running and sinking at the top of his routes, which should come with collegiate coaching. Has upside to be a difference-maker at the college level, but will need to refine his game.”
