LOOK: Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian at game of 5-star TE Duce Robinson

Texas is currently on its bye week. As a result, the Longhorns’ staff is out on the recruiting trail. Head coach Steve Sarkisian decided to head west.

Sarkisian and tight ends coach Jeff Banks are at the game of Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle five-star tight end Duce Robinson, one of Texas’ top targets in the 2023 cycle. Robinson is taking an official visit to Austin on the weekend of Nov. 12.

“This is a big season for Texas… Texas has the talent,” Robinson told On3’s Chad Simmons in September. “They got in some top transfers, they signed a strong recruiting class, and they have some difference-makers on the team this season.”

“Texas has a really cool environment,” Robinson added. “I like it in Austin and I like what they have going as a team. The offense under coach Sark is explosive and it will be fun to see.”

Robinson is the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 1 tight end in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Arizona.

 According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, USC has a 63.7% chance to land Robinson’s commitment. Texas’ odds are currently 8.8%

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

The Longhorns currently have commitments from two tight ends. They are Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei three-star Spencer Shannon and New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman three-star commit Will Randle.

Texas’ 2023 recruiting class is currently No. 7 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Rankings and No. 2 in the Big 12. The group is led by New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning, the No. 1 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Robinson has an On3 NIL Valuation of $195K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Duce Robinson:

“Jumbo athlete with a large catch radius who looks like one of the better tight end prospects over the last few recruiting cycles. Has outstanding statue and length at over 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds with a 6-foot-10 wingspan. Plays and moves like a receiver at that size. A smooth, fluid mover who showed continued improvement in top-end play speed as a junior, running away from defensive backs. Has one of the largest catch radiuses in the 2023 cycle and consistently wins in contested situations. 

“Was the top pass-catcher at the Opening Finals prior to his junior season and created a considerable mismatch over the middle of the field. Turned in a very productive junior season with close to 1,000 receiving yards. Has an outstanding multi-sport profile as one of the nation’s top baseball prospects and also plays basketball. Will need to continue getting stronger to aid in blocking, but has the look of an elite tight end prospect with five-star upside.”
