LOOK: Texas wide receivers coach at 4-star WR Jalen Hale's game
Longview (Texas) four-star wide receiver Jalen Hale is announcing his commitment Sept. 21 and choosing between Alabama, Texas and Texas A&M. The Longhorns are making a strong push for his pledge and continued to show their interest on Friday night.
Texas wide receivers coach Brennan Marion attended Hale’s contest against Lufkin (Texas). The 6-foot-0.5, 185 pound wideout got off to a strong start with an impressive catch downfield.
Hale is the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 10 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 10 player in Texas.
Texas currently has one of the best recruiting classes in the country. The program’s 2023 group ranks No. 5 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the Big 12.

Landing Hale would be a massive recruiting win for the Longhorns. The class is led by New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning and New Iberia (La.) Westgate five-star safety Derek Williams.

If Hale chooses Texas, he would be the program’s sixth-highest-ranked commit, as well as the Longhorns’ third top-100 receiver. The others are Desoto (Texas) four-star Johntay Cook and Houston (Texas) Aldine Eisenhower four-star Ryan Niblett. Texas also has a commitment from Houston (Texas) Dekaney four-star wide receiver Jonah Wilson, the No. 278 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.
Hale took an official visit last weekend for the Longhorns’ 20-19 loss to Alabama. He posted photos from the visit a few days later.
“…It was a much-needed boost in the recruitment for Texas and Inside Texas believes the Horns made a strong impression on Hale and his family,” On3’s Justin Wells wrote about Hale’s official visit. “Hale loves the idea of playing with Arch Manning, Cedric Baxter, and Johntay Cook, three players he hears from on a semi-regular basis. Hale also loved the atmosphere at DKR on Saturday, like most recruits who came away thoroughly impressed.
“… Texas put themselves back in the thick of things this weekend and must now stay the course over the next nine days. The fact they played so well versus Alabama was notable to his parents, sources tell Inside Texas.”
