For Texas fans around the country, including superstar Matthew McConaughey, there was a moment late in the Sugar Bowl where it looked like the Longhorns were going to pull off a miracle win over Washington. Of course, despite having multiple shots at a touchdown late, Texas still fell short.

Matthew McConaughey has been known for his support of Texas athletics for a long time and he managed to make it to the Sugar Bowl. He was still there at the end of the game to watch the final play of the game.

Because of his status, a camera found him and now you can watch Matthew McConaughey’s reaction to the end of the game, here:

On the bottom left of the screen, Matthew McConaughey is standing, arms in the air, anticipating a celebration that was never going to come. He’s wearing a cowboy hat and a burnt orange jacket. Then, as the realization that the pass went incomplete he just slowly put his arms down, almost in a daze and confused as to what happened.

The loss ended the season for Texas and, despite the loss in the CFP, it’s hard not to say this was a successful season for the Longhorns. They won the Big 12 Championship in their final season and went to the Playoff, somewhere they’ve never been before. So, for fans like Matthew McConaughey, it’s hard not to say this was a good season, even if it ended in frustration.

On the other side, Washington is advancing to take on Michigan for a national championship. Meanwhile, Texas will turn its attention to the offseason, improving, and getting ready to move to the SEC.

Steve Sarkisian on Texas’ College Football Playoff semifinal loss

After the loss, head coach Steve Sarkisian shared his initial thoughts on Texas’ loss in the College Football Playoff semifinal to Washington.

“Just how proud I was of them this season. You know, the way they fought there and the resiliency they showed in the second half and in the fourth quarter is just indicative of this team,” Sarkisian said.

“These guys are fighters and they’ve grown into that; it’s not what we were a few years ago. We’ve grown into it. And to give ourselves a chance the way that we did there late in the game, [I’m] really proud of them. With all the self-inflicted wounds that we had tonight, we lost to a good team that played well, but we gave ourselves a chance. We just we just came up short.”
