One of the more pivotal moves of the offseason was the Texas Longhorns adding a huge transfer portal addition to their roster, securing a commitment from former Oral Roberts point guard Max Abmas.

At the time, Abmas was one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal, choosing Texas over Kansas State when it was all said and done. Now, he’s ready to make his name known for the Longhorns.

As the 2023-2024 season begins to hit it’s stride, Abmas took some time to elaborate on how he wants to leave his mark at Texas, even if he may only be with the program for a short period of time.

“The biggest thing is winning for me,” started Abmas. “Being here, within a culture, where it’s expected to win, and you have a lot of winning habits. Something that I wanted to be in.

“I think as we go on through the year, the biggest goal is a national championship, and a Big 12 championship. So we’re really trying to stay in the moment. See how we can improve every single day, so that we can put ourselves in the best position for that.”

Alas, Abmas joined a Texas team that is fresh off of a Big 12 Tournament win and Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament under newly hired head coach Rodney Terry. Not a bad choice if you want to win a national title.
