Peach Bowl denies Bevo entry to Peach Bowl sideline: 'Simply not enough room'
The Peach Bowl has revealed that Texas mascot Bevo will be unable to attend the Peach Bowl matchup between the Longhorns and Arizona State. The announcement was made in a statement on Twitter on Monday:
“We love all of the great traditions of college football and no doubt, Bevo is one of the best,” The Peach Bowl said in a statement. “But the unfortunate reality is there simply is not enough room on the sidelines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“With the constraints of the stadium and prioritizing the safety of Bevo, the players, all the network cameras support staff, cheerleaders, and photographers, we unfortunately will not be able to have Bevo on the field at the CFP Quarterfinal at the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.”
Bevo was also not allowed to attend the SEC Championship Game between Texas and Georgia, which was also held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The SEC cited a lack of space for the SEC Championship Game, too.
Texas and Arizona State are meeting in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday, Jan. 1. The game will take place at 1 p.m. The Longhorns advanced to the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff after beating Clemson in the first round.
Meanwhile Arizona State advanced to the CFP after winning the Big 12 Championship in its first season in the league.

Steve Sarkisian excited by versatility of Texas roster, ability to win multiple ways
The Texas Longhorns (12-2 overall) have been one of the most dominant teams in college football the past two seasons. And that’s thanks in large part to their massive offensive and defensive lines.
Dominating the line of scrimmage allows the Longhorns a number of different ways to win. And head coach Steve Sarkisian is well aware of that. In his postgame press conference after the Longhorns’ first round 38-24 win in the 2024 College Football Playoffs, Sarkisian discussed his team’s ability to win in multiple ways.
“Yeah, I mean it’s you know, it’s like the offense, coming out of the Georgia game. We had to challenge them. We didn’t run the ball very well. And so, then you challenge them, and they can respond. And so, the same thing now can go for the defense. We obviously have some things to clean up,” Sarkisian explained.
“But you know, I think that’s kind of the beauty of this team. And we haven’t been faced with this a ton, but the versatility we have as a team, we can win games in a lot of different ways. And we can win low scoring tight, defensive tight games. But, we can also score points when we have to, and extend leads when we have to do that.”
