Purdue transfer DL Cole Brevard commits to Texas
Texas has landed a former Big Ten defensive lineman to help its defense for the 2025 season. Former Purdue and Penn State defensive lineman Cole Brevard has signed with the Longhorns, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Brevard played in 11 games this season for the Boilermakers, finishing with 19 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Cole Brevard was originally a member of the 2020 recruiting class. He was ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 30 defensive lineman in the country that year, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He did not see any action at Penn State in 2020 and redshirted in 2021.
Brevard then transferred to Purdue ahead of the 2022 season. He appeared in all 14 games and made 10 tackles that season as Purdue reached the Big Ten Championship Game.
During the 2023 season, Cole Brevard appeared and started in all 12 games, finishing with 9 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss.

Finkley shared his intentions to enter his name in with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Friday. He’ll be leaving now with one year of collegiate eligibility remaining elsewhere.
Finkley has spent the past three seasons with the Longhorns. While on The 40 Acres, Finkley has appeared in 30-plus games where he has had 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
Most of that came when he was a sophomore last fall where Finkley had 14 tackles, a pair of sacks, and the forced fumble. He then had five tackles over six games as a junior this season.
Finkley, a Trussville, Alabama native, played high school football at Hewitt-Trussville. He was the No. 126 overall player there as a four-star prospect in the 2022 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also rated as a Top-15 edge in the class and the No. 6 player out of the state. That made him the seventh highest-rated signee that year for Texas in a class that finished at No. 5 in On3’s 2022 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
