Quinn Ewers has the biggest test of his Texas career just two games into the 2022 season when No. 1 Alabama rolls onto the Forty Acres on Saturday at noon ET. While Ewers has never faced a foe like this, he’s excited to see how his team fares against the nation’s best team.

“[We are] trying to prepare the same way we do every week,” Ewers said Monday. “At the end of the day, it’s another opportunity. We have to go out there and show what we can do and it’s going to be a lot of fun … [Alabama] is a great program, a historic program. Excited to get on the field.”

Ewers’ Longhorn debut saw him complete 67 percent (16-24) of his passes for 225 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders was Ewers favorite target, connecting with the sophomore six times for 85 yards and a score, and star running back Bijan Robinson used his versatility to catch three passes for 40 yards and a touchdown reception on top of his 71 rushing yards and rushing touchdown.

Texas did beat ULM 52-10, but the Longhorns only mustered 383 total yards of offense. Last week against Utah State, Alabama put together 559 offensive yards with its starters on the bench for the majority of the second half.

In the last 10 years, Alabama has lost only 13 games and have won at least 11 games in each of those seasons. Add in the six College Football Playoff berths in the last seven seasons, and Ewers and Texas will likely need to play a perfect game to overcome the Crimson Tide.

“You know, I prepare the same way we do every week,” Ewers said, via InsideTexas’ Justin Wells. “At the end of the day, it’s, you know, another opportunity we have to go out there and show what we can do and it’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m excited.”

Texas will look to do the impossible and take down the nation’s No. 1 team this Saturday from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. Kickoff is set for noon ET live on FOX.
