Texas Longhorns DESIRED Win Total in 2024? | Steve Sarkisian, Quinn Ewers Set For BIG Year in SEC

Along with Colorado‘s Travis Hunter and Michigan‘s Donovan Edwards, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers will grace the cover of “EA Sports College Football 25” when it releases nationwide on July 19. During an appearance “RG3 and The Ones,” Ewers revealed his perspective on the honor.

“It’s been great,” Ewers said. “It’s honestly like humbling and just like a blessing to have the opportunity to be on the game. It’s been so long since the last one was out. I mean, you’re on the cover of one of them, so you know how it feels.

“It was a cool experience to get to Dallas and get to hang with those other guys and just experience the whole photoshoot, all the videos we did. It was just an overall cool experience. It’s good for the whole university.”

“EA Sports College Football 25” will be the first college football game EA Sports has released since “NCAA Football 14,” which Ewers claims is still his favorite of the ultra-popular series.

Since the advent of the genre, it has been tradition to place the best athletes on the cover of their respective sports. Ewers certainly earned his spot on this year’s edition.

In the 2023 campaign, Ewers completed 69% of his passes for 3,479 yards and 22 touchdowns while only throwing six interceptions. Fueled by Ewers’ leadership, Texas reached the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.

For his efforts, Ewers was named a Davey O’Brien Award and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award semifinalist. Additionally, he was a Second-Team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press and Phil Steele.

Perhaps Ewers can reel in a few achievements on the game, as well.

“It’s cool to be in a video game,” Ewers said. “I’ve never been in one, so it’s gonna be pretty cool to play with the Horns.”

Hopefully, Ewers can stay healthy in both the game and real life. Ewers missed two games last season after suffering an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder against Houston. His absence nearly cost Texas its debut appearance in the College Football Playoff.

With Maalik Murphy starting in Ewers’ place, Texas narrowly defeated Kansas State 33-30 in an overtime thriller. Ewers promptly returned the following week and finished the regular season on a four-game winning streak.

Quinn Ewers will look to help Texas return to the CFP again this season. There will be more opportunities for the Longhorns to secure a spot in 2024 as the CFP will expand to a 12-team format for the first ever.
