Arizona State starting quarterback Sam Leavitt certainly isn’t lacking confidence heading into the Peach Bowl against Texas. Leavitt was asked earlier this week about his counterpart, Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers, and what he thinks of him as a player.

“Yea, I’ve watched him for a fair amount of time now,” Sam Leavitt said. “I’m just excited for the opportunity. People keep counting me out since Day 1, and you know, I’m going to go prove why I’m the better quarterback. That’s how I feel since Day 1. So I’m going to go put everybody on the map.”

Texas held Media Days ahead of the College Football Playoff on Monday, and Quinn Ewers was asked about Leavitt’s comments. Ewers acknowledged that he saw what Leavitt had to say.

“Yea, I mean, I saw it,” Quinn Ewers said. “Just congrats to them on a great year and a great season. I’ve gotten to watch some of their games and he’s a talented player. And they’re a fun offense to watch. And again, just excited to be up against them.”

Quinn Ewers has thrown for 2,867 yards and 26 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions heading into the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. He has led Texas to where it expected to be this season, fighting for a national championship.

As for Sam Leavitt and Arizona State, the Sun Devils came out of nowhere this year to win the Big 12 and earn the No. 4 seed in the CFP.

Leavitt has been a huge part of Arizona State’s success, throwing for 2,663 yards and 24 touchdowns, with five interceptions. He has also rushed for 383 yards and five scores. It will be fun to see which quarterback plays better in the Peach Bowl on Wednesday.

Arch Manning confirms he has ‘no plans’ on entering transfer portal, leaving Texas

Elsewhere with Texas quarterbacks, Arch Manning confirmed on Monday that he has “no plans” of entering the transfer portal.

“I really have no plans on entering the portal or anything,” Manning said.

Arch Manning has served as the backup to Quinn Ewers for each of the past two seasons. He has also started a handful of games when Ewers missed time with injuries.

During the 2024 season, Manning has also been used in short-yardage situations occasionally due to his rushing ability.
