Quinn Ewers weighs in on what makes the Alabama defense so elite
There is a ton of hype around Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers and the potential that he has moving forward. He flashed some of that potential against an outmatched ULM team in Week 1, while also proving he can make mistakes like any other quarterback with an interception. Now, in Week 2, there is no room for error and the Longhorns welcome Alabama to Austin.
Alabama is elite in every facet of the game and Quinn Ewers knows it. During player media availability, Ewers explained what makes that Alabama defense such a challenging unit to face.
“They’re fast,” Quinn Ewers said. “They’re good tacklers and, you know, they do everything the right way.”

“I’m really excited.”
Quick and to the point, this is going to be a challenge for Quinn Ewers and the Texas offense. When a defense has sideline to sideline speed to cover the entire field, it’s difficult to find a gap to attack. Add on that the defense is full of great tacklers and it’s incredibly difficult to move the ball.

Steve Sarkisian graded Quinn Ewers
Following Quinn Ewers’ first game at Texas, head coach Steve Sarkisian went back and graded him on his performance against ULM.
“I thought he played pretty well. Very rarely did I feel like the ball is not going to the right spot or to the right person,” said Steve Sarkisian. “I think some of the throws on the balls he’d love to have back just from an accuracy standpoint. He’ll fix it. Sometimes you just need to get that full speed rep of guys running down the field of what that feels like.”
