Report: Mother of Jordan and Jaxon Shipley found dead

According to a report by the Abilene Reporter-News, a body was found at Kirby Lake in Abilene, TX according to police. It was later identified as Sharon Shipley, the mother of former Texas wide receiver Jordan and Jaxon Shipley.

Game wardens with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department found Shipley’s body on Monday morning after a search with Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and Abilene Police Department. She was 55 years old.

The exact cause of death is not yet known. Police are conducting a death investigation which will include an autopsy.

Jordan Shipley played in Austin for the Longhorns from 2006-2009 and is considered one of the greatest receivers in program history. He finished with 3,191 yards and 33 touchdowns on 248 catches.

Jaxon Shipley came just after his older brother from 2011-2014. He played in the latter stages of the Mack Brown era, securing 218 receptions for 2,510 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Sharon was last seen on Monday afternoon after willingly leaving a treatment facility in Taylor County. Her body was found around 3:00 p.m. CT at Lake Kirby with it being identified just over two hours later.
