Bevo will be listed as out for the SEC Championship in Atlanta.

Due to spacing inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Bevo, the mascot of the Texas Longhorns, will not be present this weekend when his team plays in the conference title game, in their debut season in the league, against the Georgia Bulldogs.

“SEC officials cited space constraints as the reason why Bevo won’t be on the Mercedes-Benz Stadium sidelines in Atlanta, Silver Spur Alumni Association Executive Director Ricky Brennes said,” wrote KXAN on Thursday.

However, Uga XI, whether due to size or proximity, will be at the game to support the ‘Dawgs in The ATL.

“Uga XI, the University of Georgia’s bulldog mascot, will be in attendance, Brennes said,” KXAN wrote.

Bevo and Uga come with a history considering what happened between them at the Sugar Bowl in 2019. The longhorn came through his enclosure, and nearly brought three handlers with him, when Uga X, the previous bulldog to the current one, was let out of his kennel near him.

The two live mascots haven’t met since then. That includes this year’s regular-season matchup between Georgia and Texas on The 40 Acres as Uga did not make the trip to Austin. However, it was just fine for the Bulldogs who won 30-15 over the Longhorns, giving them their only loss of this season.

Now, Bevo won’t be making the return trip either for the conference title game this weekend.
