Texas coach Rodney Terry has not yet met with athletics director Chris Del Conte, but is expected to do so Monday, the Houston Chronicle’s Kirk Bohls reported. If UT parts ways with Terry, Bohls mentioned Xavier coach Sean Miller as a potential target as a replacement.

Terry’s future came into question late in Texas’ up-and-down season, but the Longhorns still made it to Dayton for the First Four of the NCAA Tournament. They had a sizable lead, but eventually fell to Miller and Xavier to end the season 19-16 overall.

Shortly after the buzzer sounded on Texas’ First Four loss, reports came out about Terry’s future. The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman reported the Longhorns were “likely to make a move” at some point. However, Bohls later added nothing was necessarily “imminent.”

Goodman also noted Miller got a “hard” look from Del Conte last time around before UT went on the tournament run and Terry earned the job. Xavier outscored Texas 47-33 in the second half of Wednesday’s game – a matchup Miller called “one of the greatest games I’ve been a part of.”

After the game, Terry was asked about the reports surrounding his future at Texas. He noted his accolades during his time with the program as an assistant, and he takes pride in being a Longhorn.

“I’ve been at Texas 13 years, and there’s not a year I haven’t made the NCAA Tournament or been a part of the NCAA Tournament,” Terry said. “I have a lot of pride in terms of being a Longhorn. I love being at Texas. I don’t think anyone has been a part of Texas basketball that’s been more successful than myself. I’ve been a part of the top five seasons in this program’s history of this program.

Our guys – I give our guys a lot of credit for putting themselves in a great position to be here tonight. At the end of the day, it’s in God’s hands. At the end of the day, I live my life, I’m a believer, and if God has plans for me to be here, then I’ll be here. If He has plans for me to be somewhere else, He’s the one with the master plan at all times. That’s what I live my life by. I don’t live my life by no man. I live my life by God. I got strong faith.”

Rodney Terry initially took over at Texas as the interim head coach following Chris Beard’s departure. The Longhorns made a run to the Elite Eight that season, and it earned him the full-time job. On the whole, he has a 62-37 record at the helm.
