The Texas Longhorns have officially added Frank Haith as a coach under Rodney Terry, according to an official release by the school. The school revealed that Haith was officially hired, as well as sharing that Brandon Chappell would return for a second season and Steve McClain was being elevated to assistant coach from special assistant.

Additionally, Texas announced that Chris Ogden would be moving from Managing Director to General Manager.

The hiring decisions fill gaps left behind the overturning personnel from last season — with Haith and McClain taking the roles vacated by Terry and Bob Donewald Jr. Terry assumed the head coaching position in the interim after the suspension and firing of Chris Beard during the 2022-23 season.

Haith coached previously at Texas as an assistant, coaching with Texas for three seasons from 2001-04. According to Texas, Haith was directly involved in the recruitment and coaching of six players to reached the NBA level during his previous time with the team — including Chris Owens, T.J. Ford, Royal Ivey, LaMarcus Aldrige, P.J. Tucker and Daniel Gibson.

Haith’s coaching stops since then included head coaching stints at Miami, Missouri and Tulsa. His career head coaching record is 343-237, and teams he coached have reached the NCAA Tournament four times.

Last season, Texas finished 29-9 and reached the Elite Eight for their deepest tournament run since 2008. Their work during the season earned them major recognition as they began March Madness as a No. 2 seed. The season also resulted in the Longhorns winning their second Big 12 Tournament title in the school’s history.
