Rodney Terry provides health update on Dylan Disu
Texas hoops has gotten off to a nice start in Rodney Terry’s first full year as the head coach — and more help could be on the way for this Longhorn roster in the form of senior forward Dylan Disu.
Disu was a starter in every game he played in last season, averaging 8.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in his 19 minutes per game. And also, he was a vital and versatile piece of a strong Texas defense the last two seasons as well. Simply put: a player Coach Terry could really use back in the lineup. The good news is that could be a possibility here in the near future.
After Texas’ latest win over Houston Baptist, Terry updated the Disu health situation, noting that he’s began practicing again and is still making his way back onto the court for live game action.
“Disu’s made a lot of good progress. You know, our staff has done a great job with him, bringing him along, Cory and those guys working with him,” said Terry, adding that he’ll have a better idea of when the veteran big man will be back by the end of the week.

Steve Sarkisian addresses injury update on Texas star WR
“You know, there’s a chance, an opportunity at some point where he’ll be back with us. He’s already back practicing with us right now. You know, he’s going to have a full week of work with us this next week and we’ll kind of gauge and see what that looks like at the end of the week.”
These aren’t the first comments Rodney Terry has made on Dylan Disu since the season started. Since his injury was so long-term and goes all the way back to last spring, the medical staff is in no hurry to rush the young man back into action and risk further setbacks. Luckily, they have the bodies down low to patch up the loss for now.
“We’re playing the long game with Disu because we want him for the whole season,” Terry had said a few weeks ago. “If that goes into November and the first of December, no problem. We have other guys who’ll have opportunities to step up and get things done. We want him to be able to come back and be able to play at the level when he left.”
In his place, guys like Kadin Shedrick and Dillon Mitchell have had plenty of space to shine.
