The Texas Longhorns dropped their game on Tuesday night against the Alabama Crimson Tide, marking the third straight loss for head coach Rodney Terry and the Longhorns. With that, there is growing concern about Texas’ NCAA Tournament chances.

Following the game, Terry explained that every night is like an NCAA Tournament game in the SEC and that Texas will need to keep grinding for the postseason.

“I always say that from the start of the season, and as we work our way through the season, every game we play is an NCAA Tournament game in terms of building your resume,” Rodney Terry said. “In this league, every night, you’re playing a quality opponent. That’s the No. 2 team in the country right now, and we’re going to get a team on Saturday that’s always been in the top 10 at some point during this season as well.”

At 15-10 overall and 4-8 in the SEC, it’s been a struggle at times this season for Texas. That has seen the Longhorns go 3-8 in their Quad 1 games this season. In Quad 2 games, Texas is 3-2. They’re unbeaten against all other opponents.

“So, in this league, there’s no nights off in terms of the quality of teams that you’re playing,” Terry said. “You’re playing an NCAA Tournament team every night that we play. So, you just keep your head down, you keep staying the course, you keep working, and you’ve got to make it happen.”

In the latest bracketology, Texas is still listed as a nine-seed. That would put them in the East Region.

Texas will next be in action on Saturday against the Kentucky Wildcats at home. With six regular-season games remaining, that is one of two games against teams that are currently ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll.

Rodney Terry claims he did not hear Texas fans booing him when his name was announced

When Texas had its starting lineups announced against Alabama, some fans were booing Rodney Terry. After the game, however, he claimed not to notice anything.

“I don’t pay attention to that stuff. I didn’t hear any boos. I don’t know. Maybe there was, maybe there wasn’t. To me personally, I’m all about trying to get my team better. It’s about focusing on those guys. Focusing on what we need to do as a program and continuing to stay the course and keep working. I don’t get caught up in outside noise,” Terry said.

“If I’m worried about what people are saying or this or that, that’s not my job. There’s not anything anybody can say or do to me. I’ve got the No. 1 protector in God. I’ve got strong faith. I’m a Christian guy. Nothing anybody can ever say can bring me down. So I don’t get caught up in that. I didn’t hear [the booing], if that was the case.”
