Texas Longhorns coach Rodney Terry knows that there are certain players who need to step up for the Texas Longhorns to have success. One of those players is Sir’Jabari Rice.

At the same time, Terry knows that every player on the team is important, as he explained after the overtime win against Oklahoma on Saturday.

“Very important,” Rodney Terry said. “I think all our guys are very important. I’ll go all the way down to our scout team guys that help give us a great look in preparation for games.”

Speaking specifically about Rice, Terry pointed out that he’s been incredibly important on the team. He’s been able to become incredibly important because of the work that he’s putting in outside of the games themselves.

“But, Jabari’s done a great job and I’ve said this before, over the last, really over the last month of the season, he’s had an incredible approach to practice and it’s carried over for him into games.”

The win over Oklahoma was closer than a lot of people would have expected. Riced led the way for the Longhorns with 24 points in the game.

Next up for the Longhorns is Iowa State on Tuesday night.

Sir’Jabari Rice responded to Bob Huggins

Following Texas’ blowout win over West Virginia, Mountaineers head coach Bob Huggins loudly complained that Sir’Jabari Rice “talks a lot.”

“I was just being competitive,” Rice said.

That’s a pretty succinct response from someone who talks a lot, especially when his team just won by 34 points. If anyone had a right to talk, it was Rice, who scored more than a point per minute that game. It was just a dominant performance by Texas and Huggins complaining about trash-talking just feels like sour grapes.
