When Texas headed into the halftime locker room tied at 17, some things were going to need to change on both sides of the ball. Offensively, running back Bijan Robinson was going to be one who stepped up and show his brilliance. Early in the second half, he did exactly that.

After the Longhorns’ offense forced a punt from UTSA on their first drive, head coach Steve Sarkisian continued his effort on the ground game. Eventually, Robinson was going to break one off. Taking one off the right tackle’s side, he burst through the defense and was home free.

It’s the longest rushing touchdown of Robinson’s career, coming at a crucial time for Texas. After a made extra point, they now have a touchdown lead over UTSA, 24-17.

There have been a couple of games where Texas had to rely on the ground game in order to get a win — it’s not just against UTSA. In last season’s finale against Kansas State, Roschon Johnson was the one who put the team on his back. Now, Robinson is trying to be that guy.

Of course, the Longhorns are playing without quarterback Quinn Ewers as he is expected to be out for a few weeks. The offense has not looked inspiring in the passing game with Hudson Card running the show. It’s similar how to the previous year went when Texas was facing off against big-time competition.

Sarkisian will have to give the ball to his running backs, specifically Robinson, if he wants to escape another upset in Austin. UTSA has proven they will not be afraid to fight. Texas will have to show the same team we saw last week through the final quarter and a half.
