Texas running back Jonathon Brooks leaves game vs. TCU with injury
Quinn Ewers or Maalik Murphy could have started against TCU on Saturday night. Steve Sarkisian was going to lean on the run game either way, with Texas believing they had an advantage at the line of scrimmage. Jonathon Brooks has been amazing as well, being a reliable ball carrier throughout the entire season.
Another great day was brewing in Fort Worth, eclipsing 100 yards in the fourth quarter. But on the same play, Brooks went down in pain and had to crawl toward the sideline to get off the field. The running back was in a ton of pain and had to leave the game.
Members of the Texas staff had to help him into the medical tent, not putting any weight on one of his ankles. Eventually, he was shown by the ESPN broadcast being helped into the locker room.
Not a player Sarkisian needs to lose heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
At the time of posting, there has been no update or exact injury diagnosis provided on Brooks. With the game already being in the latter stages, there is probably a good chance his night is over. Attention will immediately turn to his long-term health.
Assuming his night is done, Brooks will finish the TCU game with 21 carries, 104 yards, and two touchdowns. Just another great performance from an underrated piece of Texas’ offense this season.

Texas will head on the road once again next week, facing off against Iowa State. The regular season finale will take place on Black Friday, with Texas Tech heading to Austin for a final battle between two long-time conference foes.
Texas to rely on young running back room if Jonathon Brooks cannot go
For at least the remainder of the TCU game, Texas is going to have to rely on a young running back room. Despite being a true freshman, CJ Baxter has been a staple in the lineup all season — having a starting role earlier in the year. He should get most of the carries to close things out in Cow Town before focusing on the future.
Keilan Robinson is an experienced player but had just seven carries entering Saturday. Jaydon Blue has gotten involved at times too, being a threat coming out of the backfield too.
Sarkisian will have some decisions to make moving forward if Brooks cannot go, beginning against Iowa State on Saturday.
