Sir’Jabari Rice makes case for Rodney Terry as Coach of the Year
Texas interim head coach Rodney Terry may not be a full-time head coach in college basketball right now but Sir’Jabari Rice thinks he is the Coach of the Year. Terry has led the Longhorns to a 12-6 conference record and overall mark of 23-8.
Plus, his Texas team just defeated a third-ranked Kansas by 16 points to close out the regular season.
After the win, Rice explained to the media why Terry should win Coach of the Year.
“Our record shows, our play shows,” Rice said. “It’s all credit to RT and the whole coaching staff. Obviously, we know what we went through this year. And for him to be able to keep us together like this, it’s just amazing. I have all respect for our RT. I love our RT, and I wouldn’t want no other coach right now.”
Rice led the way with team highs in points with 23 and rebounds with seven coming off the bench for Texas in the win. Tyrese Hunter also scored 20 points as the two paced the Longhorns in their statement victory.

Marcus Carr is thankful for Rodney Terry
Sir’Jabari Rice isn’t the only player thankful for the work and job Rodney Terry has done this year under difficult circumstances. After Texas defeated Oklahoma in February, Marcus Carr expressed how thankful he is for Terry and the job he has done.
“It has been huge; on the court, off the court. You know, we start every single day in the morning, and it’s good morning; it’s great to be here,” Carr said. “We’re all thankful to be alive, and the coach does a good job of, before we even start talking about basketball, just making sure we understand where we’re at. We’re all grateful to just be here and be breathing every single day and thankful to have the opportunity of life. So, coach definitely puts that energy into us. And I definitely think it spreads throughout the whole team.”
