Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian answered reporters’ questions about the maturity level of transfer wide receiver Agiye Hall on the first day of fall camp.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound redshirt freshman left Alabama after a suspension but, according to the second-year head coach, he’s showing signs of growth in Austin.

“I think he’s progressing you know, transition is tough for everybody, I get all that you know,” Sarkisian said. “When you’re a true freshman and you’re thrust into some of the environments and big time games that he was in, and are you prepared? Are you not? So our job as coaches with any player, Agiye is no different than Keilan Robinson or Ryan Watts or anybody that comes into our program, is to try to get them immersed into our culture.

“And then try to develop them on and off the field so they can grow and have an impact on our team, but also kind of grow as a person and man and player, to build their brand and get them to be as close to their potential as progress. He’s got a lot of potential, he’s making progress. Not a finished product, but I don’t expect our guys to be finished products, what I do expect is growth. We’re seeing that.”

At the first fall camp practice, Hall worked in the second group of wideouts during drills behind a returning group that included Jordan Whittington and Xavier Worthy.

Hall starts fresh with Texas

Agiye Hall announced his decision to transfer to Texas in April. The decision came not long after he received a suspension from the Crimson Tide team due to unspecified rules violations.

Hall was getting ready for his second season with the Crimson Tide after seeing action in three games last season. He had four catches for 72 yards in 2021, two of which came in the national title game versus Georgia. Now with the Longhorns, he’ll try to improve on his freshman performance.

A member of the 2021 signing class, Hall signed with Alabama as a four-star prospect. He was No. 39 overall in the nation and the No. 4 wide receiver, according to the On3 Consensus. After entering the transfer portal, he was the No. 9 receiver available heading into the 2022 season.
