Texas is off and running in their spring game, and Longhorns leader Steve Sarkisian has his eyes on his quarterbacks, like the rest of the college football world.

Both Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning will be the talk of the town when it comes to Texas football in 2023. In the first half of Texas’ spring game, Sarkisian has positive things to say about both signal caller’s play.

While Manning may not see the field much during the regular season, Sarkisian praised the star recruit’s play during a halftime interview.

“I thought it was good,” Sarkisian said. “His first play was a pass. He threw a completion, kinda get the jitters out. I’m sure there’s still some.

“This I think just his second series so far. He’s got a lot more series in his career to go. I thought he made a good decision there on first down to tuck it and get positive yards.”

As for Ewers, he’s entering the season with plenty of pressure, as it’s his second season with the Longhorns. So far, so good, as Ewers has completed 15-of-20 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.

“He just looks comfortable,” Sarkisian said regarding his starting quarterback. “The ball is going where it supposed to go.

“What I love right now, the ball is being spread to a variety of receivers. You’re seeing AD Mitchell, you’re seeing Xavier Worthy, you saw Jordan Whittington on a big third down.”

Evidently, Sarkisian is elated to see Ewers slinging the ball all over the field to plenty of different play-makers. That’s what can make Texas’ offense special in 2023, and they’re showing the potential of their offense in their spring game.

Jaydon Blue flashes Bijan-like moves with 31-yard TD run in Texas spring game

Meanwhile, Texas lost two superstar running backs after last season in Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson. Judging by the Longhorns’ 2023 spring game, though, it appears the talent at the position group hasn’t dropped off a bit.

During Saturday’s spring scrimmage, sophomore running back Jaydon Blue took this firecracker of a carry to the house. It may be as impressive a run as either of those two former Longhorns ever had in DKR.

Take a look:

That’s some gas from the sophomore RB, and also some filthy moves to shake defenders once he got down close to the end zone. A heck of a run that’s a flash of what’s to come for the budding star this fall. Even Bijan has to be impressed by that display of ball-carrier’s brilliance.
