Steve Sarkisian details progress in bringing Texas 'back' after close loss to Alabama
Saturday was quite a test for Steve Sarkisian and Texas as Alabama made the trip to Austin for a highly anticipated game. The Longhorns made the Crimson Tide sweat it out, but Nick Saban and Co. walked away with the 20-19 victory.
But Texas showed some good signs, which is why Sarkisian said he thinks the program is in a good position going forward.
“I think we’re coming,” Sarkisian said, via Inside Texas’ Joe Cook. “We recruited well a year ago. I think we’re recruiting really well right now. I think we’re recruiting not just the body types but the personality traits that fit our style and the way we go about business.”

The Longhorns overcame some adversity in the game after Quinn Ewers left the game with an injury. Afterward, Sarkisian confirmed he’s dealing with a sprained clavicle and didn’t provide a timeline for his potential return.

Nick Saban on close win over Texas: ‘This was like playing an SEC game on the road’
It wasn’t always pretty, but Alabama walked away from its game against Texas with a victory on Saturday. But Nick Saban said this won’t be the last time his team plays in an environment like the one at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium.
Saturday marked the first time Alabama and Texas played since the 2009 national championship. But the two teams will see plenty of each other in a couple years when Texas leaves the Big 12 for the SEC.
In fact, Saban said the Longhorns — and their fans — are SEC-caliber already.
“This is like playing an SEC game on the road,” Saban said. “This kind of atmosphere, this kind of team that we’re playing. That was a lot better team than people give them credit for. And they’re going to be in the SEC. If they were in the SEC right now, they’re probably in the top half of the league. This was a real test for us.”
