Steve Sarkisian reveals Quinn Ewers will start for Texas against Oklahoma
Texas football has its QB1 back. According to the Longhorn Network and Alex Loeb, quarterback Quinn Ewers is making his return to the field and will start for Texas today in the Red River Rivalry vs. Oklahoma.
Here was the report via a tweet:
“BREAKING: Steve Sarkisian tells @SpanningTheLoeb that Quinn Ewers will start today against Oklahoma.”
Huge news for the Longhorns this morning just hours before they kickoff vs. Oklahoma in Norman. Ewers was originally injured during the Week 2 game vs. Alabama. He missed the rest of that game plus the next three, but is making his return in Week 6.
In less than two full games played, the redshirt freshman QB had impressed, amassing 360 passing yards on just 36 total attempts. And he even had the Longhorns in the lead before leaving the Alabama game. Massive news for the boys in burnt orange to get him back on the field.

Vegas has taken notice of Ewers’ return too. Since news of his likely return, there has been a massive odds shift in favor of Texas. Now, the Longhorns are nearly double-digit favorites, sitting at -9.5 per VegasInsider.
Texas has been considered the favorite the entire week, opening at -4.5. The line slowly moved up in favor of the burnt orange side of the Cotton Bowl, rising all the way to seven. With the news of Ewers returning to the field, the 9.5-point line is the largest a Texas team has been favored in a Red River Showdown game since 2005.
Hudson Card has been injured the past few weeks as well despite playing. He has been great in relief, helping Texas win two of the three games he started. While the plan is to move with Ewers rolling forward, Sarkisian knows the Austin native can be serviceable if called upon again.
But now, Quinn Ewers is back in the lineup for Texas, with people taking notice — Vegas included.
