Texas is still fleshing out its 2025 recruiting class, but the Longhorns are firmly in the mix for plenty of high-profile prospects.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff do currently have pledges from five players, however. That list includes Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie four-star defensive lineman Brandon Brown.

The 6-foot-2, 275-pounder committed to Texas on Dec. 19 and is currently the lone lineman in the class. on Thursday, Brown locked in his official visit date with the Longhorns. He announced via social media that he’ll be back in Austin from June 14-16.

Sarkisian and a pair of Texas assistants made their way to Florida last month to visit Brown. The lineman told InsideTexas that the visit went well as plenty of other programs continue to recruit him.

“I want to be elite and I think Texas can get the most out of me,” Brown said. “They have a track record for getting guys to the league and will probably have two first-round DTs this year. That’s big for me.”

Brown mentioned coaches from the likes of Miami, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida and more have been in contact. He’s expected to be back on The Forty Acres in March and has now set a date for his official visit.

Brown is the No. 304 overall prospect and No. 27 DL in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 44 player in Florida.

On3 ranks Brown higher than other recruiting services. He checks in at No. 205 overall, No. 19 at his position and No. 28 in Florida, per the updated 2025 On300.

Texas Class Breakdown

The Texas class was kicked off with a bang back in June, as Saraland (Ala.) four-star quarterback K.J. Lacey pledged to the Longhorns. The gunslinger has continued to rise in the On3 Industry Ranking and now checks in as a top-10 player at his position.

“So some of the main things that stood out to me about Texas were how much they value relationships,” Lacey told On3 upon his commitment. “What coach Sark and coach Milwee preached to me was that they don’t just offer quarterbacks because they are talented. They also want to know what type of person you are towards your teammates and peers and see if the leadership role comes to you naturally or not.

Lacey has since been flanked by four others since December. Calhoun (Ga.) four-star tight end Emaree Winston and Brown committed to UT on back-to-back days.

Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek three-star EDGE Anthony Williams and Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove four-star athlete Lance Jackson each pledged in January to add some in-state defensive flair to the pledge list in Austin.
