The Texas Longhorns came away with an impressive upset win over the No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday. Texas battled all the way back, trailing by as many as 22 points in the second half. Somehow, the Longhorns managed to scratch and claw their way back into it and stun their bitter rivals. Tramon Mark delivered the game-winning dagger in the final seconds for the ‘Horns.
They came away with a 70-69 win, much to the delight of the home crowd in Austin.
Tre Johnson carried Texas with 30 points, four assists, two blocks, and one rebound. He logged 37 minutes, drilling four of ten shots from beyond-the-arc. Tramon Mark finished with 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Of course, no play was bigger than the game-winner he delivered in the final seconds.
Johnson has erupted onto the scene as a freshman, with six games of 20 points or more this season. He’s playing like one of the most dominant players in America. It’s easy to see why he was touted as the No. 5 overall player in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2024 cycle. Johnson also earned a five-star+ ranking and was tabbed as the No. 2 shooting guard in the country coming out of Link Academy.
