Texas defensive lineman Aaron Bryant enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Texas is losing another defender to the NCAA Transfer Portal. Aaron Bryant has entered the transfer portal, On3 has learned.

A former four-star recruit, Aaron Bryant saw action in four games this season, recording one tackle. He was rated as the No. 37 defensive lineman in the country in the class of 2022, per the On3 Industry rankings.

Aaron Bryant signed with Texas out of Southaven High School in Southaven, Mississippi. As a junior in high school, he finished with 68 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, six sacks, and four forced fumbles.

Bryant played in two games for Texas in 2022 while redshirting. During the 2023 season he played in seven games, including the Big 12 Championship.

Aaron Bryant then saw action in four games this year, before entering the portal. Texas is set to host Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff Dec. 21.

Two more Texas defenders enter NCAA Transfer Portal

In addition to Aaron Bryant, Texas EDGE Tausili Akana and Longhorns linebacker Derion Gullette also announced plans to enter the transfer portal on Monday.

Akana appeared in seven games in 2024. He recorded one tackle on the season, which came against UTSA.

Tausili Akana signed with Texas after being ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 12 linebacker in the country in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry rankings. He appeared in one game as a true freshman that season.

Prior to coming to Texas, Akana was an All-American who was chosen to participate in the 2023 All-American Bowl. He finished his senior season of high school with 70 tackles, 14.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, 22 pressures and one forced fumble.

Gullette

Gullette did not receive any game action in 2023, before appearing in five games this past season. The Texas native recorded a pair of tackles for the Longhorns in 2024.
