Texas defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat announces decision to return to Texas for 2023
Texas defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat announced on his Twitter page on Friday evening that he’s returning to the Longhorns for the 2023 college football season, instead of entering the 2023 NFL Draft. Sweat made the announcement on Twitter in a joking social media post in which he toyed with Texas fans. Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian also retweeted the post from Sweat on Friday evening.
Here is his announcement below.
His announcement reads, “Hey Longhorn Family,”
“It has been an amazing journey these last four years here on the beautiful 40 acres. The things I learned over these years, have motivated and molded me into the man I am today in 2022. Now I would like to thank everyone that has supported me from my family, coaches, professors, and UT fans. I have had so much fun here with all my teammates, but my year here is now up. New beginnings are upon me & again I love my Longhorn family. So with that being said, I will be declaring for the 2023, Stay at the University of Texas One More Year. #Gotcha #HookEmHorns #NineTrayWay #ImBack,” Sweat jokingly wrote.
This season, Sweat racked up 30 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, and seven quarterback hurries.
