Texas forward Dylan Disu ruled out after attempting to play on injured foot, awkward landing
Senior Texas forward Dylan Disu is done for the night after playing just a few minutes, as he appeared on the bench wearing a walking boot on his left foot. He is officially out for the night.
Disu headed to the locker room after landing awkwardly on an injured left foot, according to CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson. Disu started for Texas and was trying to play through the injury.
“He was unable to finish practice yesterday. I was told he had an MRI, they are calling it a bone bruise. He will start but they don’t know how much they’re going to get out of him, and how much he can run up and down this court today,” Wolfson said just before tip off.
But Wolfson reported that on an early play where Disu got hit in the eye going for a rebound, he also landed awkwardly on the left foot. After heading to the bench to get the eye tended to, he ended up throwing his shoe and going to the locker room.
Disu has started every game for Texas this season. His most recent performance was one of the best of his college career, a 28 point, 10 rebounds double-double against Penn State in the Round of 32.
The fifth-leading scorer for the Longhorns with 9.1 points per game, Disu is also the second-leading rebounder for Texas, pulling down more than four a game. He’s part of a front court that rotates a number of bodies through to contribute, but is consistently among the most productive players for Texas.

According to Chip Brown of Horns247, Disu suffered the bone bruise against Penn State in the Round of 32 on March 18. He was getting treatment on the injury but reinjured it in practice on Thursday before attempting to give it a go against Xavier.
It’s a tough break for Disu to be out so early and on the heels of such a dominant performance. His 28 and 10 outing against Penn State was enough to get a shoutout from Texas legend Kevin Durant.
“See y’all in the 16. Gameball goes to Dylan Disu, looked like a young LaMarcus Aldridge out there. Let’s get it @TexasMBB,” Durant said.
The good news for Disu and Texas is he has at least one more chance to try and suit up and play for the Longhorns. The bad news is that it will only be about 36 hours after the forward reinjured the bone bruise in his left foot. The eyes of Texas fans will be fixed on Disu’s foot.
