Scottie Scheffler is off to a nice Friday start at the US Open in Brookline, MA. The former Texas golfer took a beautiful shot from the rough to the bottom of the hole. Take a look at the hit that changed his entire round:

That eagle chip put Scheffler just one stroke behind the leader Rory McIlroy. Scheffler went on to shoot a blistering 67 for the round in the toughest tournament of the year.

He’s at -3 for the tournament and as of now is tied for second place, just one stroke behind Englishman Callum Tarren. Scheffler heads out to The Country Club in Brookline for two more rounds Saturday and Sunday, where he’ll play for a shot at his second major title of the year after winning the Masters back in April.

Koepka was two under through Friday’s round, sitting at +1 overall, when he hit a huge shot to get back under par. Check out his masterstroke on the 14th hole:

With that make for eagle, Koepka is surging back towards the top of the standings and looks in comfortable position to make the cut after a dicey Thursday. He has won the event two times, back to back in 2017 and 2018. So he’s certainly a threat to take home another crown if he plays every hole like no. 14. Though his play until then wasn’t even under par, so perhaps this is just one shot in an otherwise average weekend. We shall see.
