Texas pulls off largest comeback in 10 years with 79-75 victory over TCU
At one point, Texas trailed TCU by 18 points Wednesday night at the Moody Center. But the Longhorns came out strong in the second half and made impressive history with a comeback victory.
Texas came all the way back to defeat TCU 79-75, marking the program’s largest comeback victory in 10 years. The Longhorns got some big-time performances, including a 17-point effort from Timmy Allen.
At halftime, Texas was down 42-29, but the Longhorns completely flipped the script in the second half. They outscored the Horned Frogs 50-33 after the break and Sir’Jabari Rice stepped up in a big way. He scored all 15 of his points in the final 20 minutes, including an 8-for-9 showing from the free throw line, and a big three-pointer.
Both teams went punch for punch in the second half, shooting more than 50% each. Emanuel Miller had the biggest day for TCU with 21 points while Mike Miles added 16 points to the effort.

It was an impressive follow up to Texas’ gritty win over Oklahoma State last week. In fact, after that game, Longhorns interim head coach Rodney Terry said he wanted his team to play with more pace, and that was apparent late in Wednesday’s game against TCU.
“We practice every day at 11:00. So our bodies were revved up and ready to go at this time already,” said Terry. “Again, we’ve had some very spirited workouts. Our last two practices have been incredible in terms of guys getting back to the basics and understanding that we’ve got to sit down and guard.
“We’re still gonna try to play with some pace on offense. I think we’re a fast team, an athletic team. We want to get up and down the floor. But we have to be able to get stops to be able to do that.”
