Anthony Hill explains post with torn Baker Mayfield jersey
Texas dominated Oklahoma in the 120th edition of the Red River Rivalry on Saturday in the Cotton Bowl. Defeating the Sooners 34-3 in a victory that gives them bragging rights for the next year until they square off again in 2025.
Texas linebacker Anthony Hill wasted no time relishing in the Longhorns’ win on Saturday in Dallas. Planting a Texas flag on top of an Oklahoma Baker Mayfield jersey on the 50-yard line after the game alongside teammate Barryn Sorrell. Which Hill followed with a Twitter post captioned ‘Texas fears nobody’ as he posed with the ripped jersey. A moment the sophomore from Denton explained after the game.
“I just felt like it was the right thing for me to do,” Hill said. “I seen all the stuff they posted last year so I felt like it was right for me to just get a little touch of something on them. So I just had to post me a little something to just make the team and make us feel good.”
The flag planting references Mayfield sticking the Oklahoma flag at the 50-yard line on the Ohio State logo following a 2017 Sooners’ win over the Buckeyes. And Hill’s Twitter post caption alludes to t-shirts that Oklahoma linebacker Danny Stutsman made last season after Oklahoma won the Red River Rivalry that read ‘Oklahoma only fears God, Texas fears Oklahoma’. Only adding more fuel to the fire of one of college football’s best rivalries.

Michigan vs. MSU fight

Mayfield responded to Hill and Sorrell’s actions after the game claiming he’s been living rent-free in Texas’ heads for over a decade now. But Hill made I clear that the gesture was not a personal attack on the former Sooners’ quarterback.
“To be honest, a fan had given me that jersey, just a random Texas fan, and that was just the first jersey that I had,” Hill said. “So we just kind of used that (because) it was the only jersey we had. So no hate for Baker Mayfield. I’m actually a big fan. I watched him play in college, so there’s no hate.”
Hill had an outstanding performance against the Sooners, ending the game with 11 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Dominance he’ll look to carry into Texas’ biggest game of the season this weekend when they host No. 5 Georgia this Saturday.
