Texas fans

It’s a tale old as time. Whenever Alabama is next up on somebody’s schedule, the classic “We want Bama” chant comes from opposing fans. This week, it was coming from Austin, TX, as the Texas Longhorns are set to host the Crimson Tide next Saturday.

Texas was in the midst of a blowout in their season opener against Louisana-Monroe. As the clock was winding down, the official Longhorn Network Twitter account caught a group of fans expressing their desire for Alabama. While it was not in chant form, it was through their iPhone.

Even the Twitter account was skeptical of the idea. Even so, fans are always going to be confident in their own team. At the end of the day, it’s all in good fun.

Texas to host College Gameday for Alabama game

Two college football giants will meet on the field next Saturday in Austin. For the first time since the 2009 national championship, Alabama and Texas will face off against one another. There will be plenty of storylines to follow and College Gameday wants to be there to tell them.

ESPN’s pregame show announced they will be in town for next week’s showdown between the Crimson Tide and Longhorns. It’s been three years (2019) since College Gameday was in the Lone Star State’s capital, when another SEC team, LSU, was playing at Darrell K-Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.

The official announcement was made while both teams were still playing their Week 1 matchup. A graphic was released with Lee Corso wearing the Bevo mascot head.

One of the biggest storylines will undoubtedly be Nick Saban once again facing a former assistant coach. Steve Sarkisian was the Alabama offensive coordinator for two years but in the midst of a national championship run in 2020, he accepted the Texas job. Now, less than two seasons later, he will be going up against his former head coach.

Alabama will enter the matchup No. 1 in the country, while Texas has a slight chance of being ranked. Nonetheless, there will be a ton of hype building up to the game.
