Two Texas players will miss the entire 2022 season according to Orangeblood’s Geoff Ketchum, both being knee related. Wide receiver Isaiah Neyor and offensive lineman Junior Angilau both suffered the injuries during Saturday’s scrimmage — the first of fall camp for the Longhorns.

“Multiple sources are reporting to Orangebloods that junior wide receiver Isaiah Neyor and senior offensive lineman Junior Angilau both suffered season-ending knee injuries on Saturday,” Ketchum said.

Angilau has been a long-time starter on the offensive line for Texas and would have been entering his fourth season at left guard. Position coach Kyle Flood has done a good job rebuilding the bodies up front in Austin but Angilau was expected to be a veteran presence.

As for Neyor, he transferred into the program this season after beginning his career at Wyoming. He was scheduled to be the second receiver for Sarkisian in his offense but will not be able to play this season according to Ketchum’s report.

Isaiah Neyor injury leaves question marks at wide receiver for Texas

Wide receiver was a place Sarkisian hit the transfer portal the hardest, bringing in a couple of bodies to play alongside Xavier Worthy and bring a different dimension to the offense. Neyor returned to the Lone Star State from Wyoming, while Agiye Hall was brought in via Alabama. Now, both have questions surrounding them.

Of course, Neyor has his injury but Hall was also in the news this weekend. He was arrested and is facing Class B misdemeanor charges after taking a parking boot off of his car. Hall has been suspended indefinitely by Texas, meaning his timetable to return is unknown.

Worthy remains the surest thing at wide receiver in the program, entering his second season. Jordan Whittington has been a solid weapon for the Longhorns but his health has been a major hurdle during his time.

Offensive line has depth but will miss Junior Angilau

Texas brought in seven new offensive linemen, all from the 2022 recruiting class. The depth has been restored but they’re still freshmen who will not fully be ready to see playing time on the field. And then when you consider Angilau was playing left guard, he will be a huge loss for the 2022 season.

In all 34 games Angilau has played in, he’s been the starter. Left guard is where he finished last year after first getting looks on the right side. There will be some work to do to find his full-time replacement but freshman Cole Hutson could be considered the favorite.
