There’s always talk of “when is Texas going to be back?” as plenty of problems are littered throughout the program. One of the top ones is the offensive line but head coach Steve Sarkisian is putting pieces in place to expedite the solution. His main way was with the 2022 recruiting class, with Kelvin Banks being the crown jewel.

Banks arrived on campus on Sunday, with the official Texas Football Twitter account posting a photo of the future offensive tackle. He was able to flash a ‘Hook ‘Em’ while giving a huge smile. There’s a huge talent now in Austin and Banks will get to work to prepare for the 2022 season.

Banks will have the opportunity to get immediate playing time, as the Longhorns’ offensive line has struggled over the past two years. Whether he starts out at left or right tackle is not yet known. Offensive line coach Kyle Flood can now evaluate where Banks fits best and hopefully bolster the Texas line.

Texas was able to get a huge recruiting win by locking down Banks. He originally committed to the Oregon Ducks but once Mario Cristobal took his talents to South Beach, he reopened things. The Longhorns fought off in-state rival Texas A&M to secure his signature.
