Texas players react to Agiye Hall addition, call out Alabama
The Texas Longhorns added former Alabama wide receiver Agiye Hall from the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon, as they continue to add talented players on offense. His future teammates reacted to the news in a variety of ways, with one circling a revenge date on the calendar.
Freshman linebacker Derrick Brown, a four-star recruit from the state of Texas, was the most outspoken about the addition, calling out Alabama on behalf of his new teammate.
“This team is elite,” Brown tweeted. “You’ll see that 9/10, stay tuned.”
Sept. 10 is the date of Texas’ Week Two game against Alabama at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Agiye Hall’s decision to transfer from Alabama came shortly after Nick Saban announced that the wide receiver was suspended from the team for a second time, which Hall said on social media was news to him. However, he quickly decided to leave the program and now reunites with one of his lead recruiters in Steve Sarkisian.
Sarkisian has brought in quite the haul this offseason, using the transfer portal to land another disgruntled Alabama star in Jahleel Billingsley and former Ohio State quarterback Quinn Ewers. Perhaps the most excited about the offensive additions has been returning wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who now has reinforcements.
Ewers and Worthy each posted their emojis of choice under On3’s Hayes Fawcett’s Instagram post announcing the decision.

More on Agiye Hall
As Texas players react to the addition of Agiye Hall, he brings pedigree and a familiarity with the coaching staff.
The Florida native ranked No. 38 overall in the 2021 On3 Consensus and earned a four-star rating in On3’s rankings. He also came into college as the No. 4 wide receiver and No. 10 player in his home state.
Hall was getting ready for his second season with the Crimson Tide after seeing action in three games last season. He had four catches for 72 yards in 2021, but could have a big part of the gameplan at Alabama before his departure.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound receiver made a visit to Texas last weekend with his parents. Hall’s father, Vincent Hall, said the Texas visit checked a lot of boxes, and apparently led to a quick commitment.
