Steve Sarkisian reveals who has better hair between Matthew McConaughey and Quinn Ewers
Steve Sarkisian has been answering a ton of difficult questions about his Texas Longhorns as they head into the 2022 season. During a recent guest appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, the Longhorns head man was tasked with answering arguably his most challenging question yet. After answering a few questions about his team, Eisen threw Sarkisian a curveball asking him who had the better hair out of newly named starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and Longhorns alum-superfan turned professor Matthew McConaughey. Below is what the Texas headman had to say.
“McConaughey, you know, I don’t know what product he’s got in there, but definitely, the hair looks nice,” said Sarkisian. “Quinn, he kind of just lets it go and lets it flow. And that’s kind of, I think, what we like about him. That’s how he plays the game; he just kind of lets it rip.”
Ewers has the arm talent to let it rip all over the field, and he has the hair to match. But like his hair being on display everywhere he goes, Sarkisian and the Longhorns coaching staff wants his passing ability to be displayed the same way. Ewers has a ways to go before he makes it to McConaughey and his hair’s status on campus. But suppose he can somehow lead the Longhorns to a College Football Playoff national championship. In that case, he could catapult over McConaughey and join the lure of legendary Longhorns quarterbacks such as Vince Young and Colt McCoy.
Ewers reflects on benefit of time at Ohio State
After a highly competitive quarterback battle this offseason, Quinn Ewers has earned the Texas Longhorns starting quarterback position. The red-shirt freshman returned to his home state at the conclusion of last season after spending one year with The Ohio State Buckeyes. While his time with the Buckeyes was limited to just one season with little to no playing time, Ewers is extremely grateful for the experience.
“Definitely, the semester I was at Ohio State helped me a lot, actually; I’m grateful for that. And then coming in here, basically a freshman, it’s really helped me. It was kind of like a learning stone for me, and I’m just I’m super grateful for my time at Ohio State,” said Ewers.

Despite not getting the opportunity to throw a single pass while at Ohio State, one could argue that his lone season there helped Ewers’ development immensely. Arguably the biggest takeaway for the Longhorns quarterback would be the opportunity to be a part of a culture of winning with the Buckeyes. Not only that, but because he reclassified from the 2022 class to 2021, it sensually gave him a year to sit back and get first-hand knowledge of how a college football program operates.
“Yeah, for sure, it definitely helped a lot. It definitely felt like I was ahead of the curve when I got here.”

Now that Ewers has had a year to soak up the college football environment, it’s time for action. It’s time for him to show why he was essentially the top recruit in the 2022 class before reclassifying to 2021; still earning the No. 1 ranking in that class according to On3’s consensus. If he can show that early on, expect Texas to be in the hunt for the Big 12 title and then some in 2022.
