Longtime Texas Longhorns placekicker Cameron Dicker has announced that he’s declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft and won’t be returning to Austin. He made the news public with a statement released by the UT program.

“Words cannot express how thankful I am for Longhorn Football, The University of Texas, and the City of Austin,” Dicker wrote. “To my coaches, professors, teammates, and fans, thank you for your support. There is nothing like the pride and loyalty of The University of Texas and of being a Longhorn.

“The Forty Acres has given me so much more than a college football career and one of the best educations in the nation, it has given me an extended family that bleeds Burnt Orange.”

Dicker, who played four full seasons for Texas, finishes his college career after making 60-of-79 field goals and 206-of-210 extra points. For the 2021 season, Dicker made 13-of-15 field goals and 49-of-50 PATs. Over his time with the Longhorns, Dicker scored 386 total points.

An Austin native, Dicker was a three-star recruit coming out of Lake Travis High School.

The biggest story early on in the transfer portal cycle was Quinn Ewers going from Ohio State and coming home to play for head coach Steve Sarkisian and Texas. The once Longhorn commit arrived in Austin and will begin class on Tuesday and got a head start on moving in.

Legendary Texas quarterback Vince Young reacted to Ewers arriving in Austin on Friday. He kept the message short and sweet, just saying out loud what the Ohio State transferring was showing in the photo.

“HookEm,” Young said on Twitter.

Ewers was originally a member of the 2022 recruiting class and was the No. 1 player on the On3 Consensus. When the Five-Star Plus+ prospect reclassified to the 2021 class, he still held down the top spot and enrolled at Ohio State.

He only took two snaps for the Buckeyes, both handoffs in the blowout win against Michigan State. He entered the transfer portal shortly after the end of the regular season, with Texas and Texas Tech fighting it out. The Longhorns ended up winning.

Ewers will now be tasked with becoming the next great quarterback to come out of Austin.
