Texas is one of the biggest brand names across the college sports world, and they have one of the most famous ambassadors a school can get. Actor Matthew McConaughey is a Texas alum, who can be regularly seen on the sidelines of the Longhorns games on Saturdays.

Former Texas running back Bijan Robinson‘s playing days are over for the Longhorns, as he is now poised for the upcoming NFL Draft and a career at the next level. But during his time in Austin he was able to build a bond with McConaughey, which he opened up about on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’.

“That dude, he’s amazing man, I mean he’s such a big brother to me. And even when I go to his house and meet his family and chill we’ll do certain things,” Robinson said before being interrupted McAfee.

McAfee and his counterparts were taken back and a little star-struck by Robinson’s statement, as they tried to wrap their heads around Robinson casually hanging out at McConaughey’s home. They asked Robinson again to clarify his statement, which he did, asking and speculating what the two do when they hang out.

“I mean chilling, we’ll just eat, we do mostly conversating, talking a lot,” Robinson said.

McAfee turned into a fanboy yet again, asking Robinson to take him into the room, set the scene, and describe the setting for Robinson and McConaughey’s hangout. McAfee and his counterparts were intrigued by every detail, as Robinson pulled back the curtain on what his relationship and conversations with an Academy Award winner looks like.

“In the middle of the house, good view, the window you can see all of West Lake out there. But we’re just talking about life, he’ll give me snip bits of how he became such a good actor. But yeah man, he’s been supporting me since I first stepped foot on campus and ever since then our relationship just kept growing and growing,” Robinson said. “So it’s pretty cool to have him.”

McConaughey is heavily involved at the University of Texas, serving as the school’s Texas Minister of Culture, and even became a professor of practice for the Department of Radio-Television-Film at the Moody College of Communication in 2019.

There’s no doubt that he’s had a phenomenal career on the biggest stage that there is, but still represents his alma mater, and hopefully, Robinson can do the same on one of the biggest stages in the world of sports.
