Report: Texas remains in the thick of Jordan Addison recruitment
Jordan Addison is going to have a long list of suitors after entering the transfer portal on Tuesday. There aren’t many, if any, programs that wouldn’t want the nation’s top wide receiver if given the opportunity. Alabama and USC have been names linked early on but per a report, a Big 12 contender is in the thick of it.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has already acquired some top pass catchers this offseason but is reportedly still going to make a run at Addison. Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports said the Longhorns are a team to “keep your eyes on” and there is a chance the talented wide receiver ends up in Austin.
Addison already has a connection with the program, with Brennan Marion. The now Texas wide receivers coach spent last season with Addison at Pittsburgh, helping him win the Biletnikoff Award. Marion, along with Sarkisian, will surely be the leaders in trying to bring Addison and add to their already explosive offense.
During their one year together, Addison and Marion were able to put together quite the season. Addison had 100 receptions for 1,593 yards. If the two were to rejoin forces in Austin, Addison would be considered the best of an already stacked Texas wide receiver room that includes Isaiah Neyor, Jordan Whittington, and Xavier Worthy.
Additionally, Agiye Hall is committed from the transfer portal but has yet to sign with the Longhorns. The speedster from Alabama is on the way as well and will only add to the quality depth.

Jordan Addison working out with Alabama QB Bryce Young
According to The Athletic, Addison is out in the state of California, training with Crimson Tide and Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. The quarterback is from around the Los Angeles area and is preparing for the upcoming season back home. Now, the connection could possibly open up the doors for Alabama in the transfer portal recruitment.
“It wouldn’t be shocking if the Crimson Tide became a factor in his transfer considerations,” The Athletic said.
It’s no surprise Young is looking for new weapons as five out of his top targets from last season are no longer with the program. Jameson Williams may be the expectation, also coming out of the transfer portal and becoming one of the nation’s best receivers before getting drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Alabama would hope Addison could yield similar results and keep the high-powered offense rolling in Tuscaloosa.
