Xavier Worthy has been the latest player rumored to enter the transfer portal after spending just one season in Austin. A report even emerged that the Texas wide receiver was offered over six figures by a Power Five team to join their program. If Worthy was to put himself on the open market, the former freshman All-American could be quite a popular person.

However, after sending out a tweet, it seems as if he will be staying in Austin.

Worthy posted a photo of him fist-bumping head coach Steve Sarkisian, sending a message that he will not be leaving the Longhorns. Sarkisian will be keeping his best playing-making receiver, hoping to somehow get even better during the 2022 season.

You can see the tweet here.

After being a late recruiting win for Sarkisian, Worthy was a breakout star during his true freshman season. He burst onto the scene against Oklahoma, taking the opening play of the rivalry game for a touchdown on a screen pass. Worthy’s explosiveness, especially downfield, is what makes him a special player.

If the tweet does mean Worthy will not be entering the transfer portal, he will be returning after having 62 receptions for 981 yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 games for the Longhorns. A big win for Sarkisian as he looks to improve in Year Two.

Report: Xavier Worthy offered NIL deal to leave Texas

According to Chris Hummer of 247Sports, Worthy had a “significant six-figure offer from at least one Power Five school” to leave Texas and join their program. As of now, Worthy has not appeared in the NCAA transfer portal and the deadline to submit his name was Sunday night at 11:59 p.m.

During spring practice, Worthy was asked if he ever considered entering the transfer portal and leaving, especially because Texas had a poor season. He said that was never an option and all of his trust was with Sarkisian.

“No, that wasn’t even a decision I made,” Worthy said. “I put my trust in Sark and I believe in Sark. I’m not just going to leave on him after one bad year.”
