Texas offensive lineman Nick Brooks was reportedly arrested on a DWI charge, according to David Eckert of the Austin Statesman. Texas is aware of the situation and currently gathering information.

As a member of the Class of 2025, Brooks was a four-star recruit out of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 45 overall prospect in the state, the No. 24 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 333 overall prospect in the class.

Brooks enrolled early at Texas and is already receiving second team reps with the offensive line as a true freshman. OT recruit John Turntine III talked with Inside Texas about his recruiting visit and mentioned Brooks as one that stood out among the players.

“I got to spend time with a couple players, Trevor Goosby, Nick BrooksAndre CojoeJaydon Chatman,” Turntine said. “They’re all different, but similar in a lot of ways. They all work. They’re here to get better. I appreciated spending time with them. Nick did real good. The freshman, he stood out. He was at left tackle. He did real good out there. Yeah, he stood out the most to me.”

“He’s not satisfied with just being second team. He’s trying to be a starter. Everybody should try to get on that field and work. He’s driven. He’s a dog.”

Brooks seems to have a lot of potential at Texas. Below is his scouting report from Inside Texas back in December.

“The one-time Iowa commit reopened his recruitment after moving back to Georgia,” the report said, via Charlie Williams. “With multiple schools vying for him, Brooks ultimately chose Texas after an official visit in June Brooks is an enormous lineman at 6-foot-7, 360 pounds with surprising athleticism. He’s an excellent run blocker and moves well on zone and counter concepts. While he profiles as a right tackle, his athleticism gives him the potential to play left tackle with development.

“Brooks saw everything he needed during his visit to Austin, impressed by Texas’ development and coaching staff Brooks is a physical mauler with tremendous athleticism for his size. His versatility and violent playing style make him a future star on the Longhorn offensive line.”
